AOS Awards – 2009 Cape & Islands Orchid Society Palette of Orchids

1.    Award of Merit  Score 84  for  
    Phrag. Alfredo Manrique ‘Haley Suzanne’  (Phrag. Kovachii x Phrag.Walter     Schomberg)
    Description: One full stunningly colorful flower and 1 bud on single 38 cm     inflorescence
    Owned: Glen Decker 2270 Cook Rd. Galway, NY

2.    Award of Merit Score 81 for
    Rhynchostyles Gigantea ‘Spotty’
    Description: 33 well displayed fully, round flowers on 1-28 cm pendant     inflorescence heavily coalesced at margins.

3.    Provisional CHM Score 83
    Bulbophllum leysanum
    Description: 32 starry fleshy flowers and 13 buds on 18 inflorescences up to 16     cm in length on 60 x 50 cm plant consisting of 18 cm lanceolate leaves on 3 cm     ovate pseudobulbs.

4.    Provisional Highly Commended Certificate or HCC Score 77
    Paph. Gigi Moore x Paph. Sylvan Vale
    Description: 1 flat well proportioned flower on 27 cm stem, dorsal sepal flat white     with pale rose overlay, petals beautifully rounded yellow green with pale tawny     mahogany.

5.    Provisional Certificate of Horticultural Merit or CHM Score 84
    Maxillaria maleolens
    Description: 55 flowers on 56 inflorescence, robust 60 cm wide plant immaculate     leaves.
