CAIOS is a
group of people who are interested in growing orchids and get together
to share experiences. Some have large greenhouses: others have only a
spot on a windowsill. Members come from all over Cape Cod, the islands
(Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) and neighboring towns. The monthly
meetings provide an opportunity to learn from expert speakers, get
advice from fellow members on horticultural problems and enjoy
sociability.
We also publish a monthly newsletter that is the membership's forum for:
- orchid information and articles
- future meeting topics and guest speakers
- upcoming regional orchid events
- plants and related items for sale
- want ads
Contributions are always welcome! Please email newsletter@caios.org for more information or to submit an article.

What Membership Means The benefits of membership in CAIOS include: • a monthly newsletter. • Members receive free admission to the annual CAIOS orchid show. •
Monthly meetings from September to June provide an opportunity to learn
about orchids, their care and culture. The topics are varied, and
programs may investigate a type of orchid and how to raise it, or may
explore the orchids of different parts of the world. • The schedule also includes a potting workshop • and occasional visits to greenhouses or orchid shows. Members
can also get advice from fellow members on horticultural problems and
enjoy sociability and refreshments. A show and tell table highlights
members’ orchids, and there is a raffle of orchids at each meeting.
There is usually a sales table of plants and orchid supplies. Each year
CAIOS sponsors an auction of orchids. CAIOS has a library of books on
orchids which is available to members at the meetings.
