Membership Information Cape & Islands Orchid Society meets once a month. Usually on the second Sunday of the month unless noted in our calendar. Meetings are held at: The Administration Building of the Barnstable County Fairgrounds, 1220 Nathan Ellis Hwy, Rt. 151 in Falmouth, MA 02536 Beginning at 1pm.
Member Dues: Dues are $20/year for Individual Membership. Each additional family member $10. Membership year begins in January.
Information for New Members: There are many benefits in joining Cape & Islands Orchid Society. At our monthly meetings information is shared about the love of, and care of growing orchids.
Through our hands on potting workshop in May, orchid growers new & experienced, find answers for questions like, “When should I repot my orchid?”, “Are these roots healthy?” , “Why are my leaves drooping?” , “How much is too much water?” , “”How DO you divide a cymbidium?” Members are invited to bring an orchid to repot.
Also, Orchid professionals speak to our group on topics such as; Growing Minis, Conservation of Orchids in the Wild, Hybrids, Orchid Culture, How to grow orchids in the Oncydium group. This is just a sampling. Members receive our monthly Newsletter which includes information about upcoming orchid shows, member news and interesting orchid bits and tips.
We are social and chatty, share food, our successes & our failures. After all, you need to kill a lot of orchids to become an experienced orchid grower. (If you are reading this, you probably already qualify.) Members bring in blooming Orchids for our Show Table every month. And we also have a small raffle to win orchids to experiment with.
